Martha Rosler

Martha Rosler is a feminist artist, theorist, and educator. Rosler has appropriated pop culture elements such as magazine advertising and television. She created influential pieces of photomontages consisting of edited pictures criticising patriarchy, ‘in which she collages magazine photography with depictions of ideal homes, producing a single incongruous frame’ (Tate, 2026). The goal was to draw attention to the inaccurate separation of these two public discourses.
I want to incorporate the collage style for the image critiques in the zine, experimenting with different backgrounds, combinations, and using negative space as well.
